COLUMBIA, SC (February 6, 2025) – A Fort Mill man is breathing easy after winning $2 million on a scratch-off ticket.

“It was pretty cool when it happened,” the winner, who does not wish to be identified, told South Carolina Education Lottery officials.

He says he stopped by John Boys convenience store at 140 Spratt St. in Fort Mill and bought a $20 scratch-off. He scanned the ticket at the store, and when he saw the message “Claim at Lottery” figured he won $1,000.

He took the ticket home, and got the surprise of his life when he finished scratching it. “I thought, ‘this is going to be the big one,’” he said. And it was, he won the game’s $2 million top prize.

“Everything got real easy,” the millionaire said.  “I can breathe now.”

The winner beat the 1 in 1,460,000 odds in the 200X The Cash game. One more top prize of $2 million remains in the game.

For selling the claimed ticket, John Boys in Fort Mill received a commission of $20,000.
