COLUMBIA, SC (January 29, 2026) – A group of four friends in Charlotte, NC, are splitting a $150,000 Powerball® prize won in South Carolina.
The pals bought the ticket that came within one number of winning a $740 million Powerball® jackpot on December 1 from the Red Rocket Fireworks on Hwy. 21 across the state border in Fort Mill.
Each member of the group received $26,250 after taxes.
They shared the good news with each other in a group text, according to one of the four winners, who spoke with the Lottery this week.
“I must have looked at it five times,” he said, adding all the friends have been enjoying their prize. “It’s been fun and come in handy.”
Red Rocket Fireworks in Fort Mill was rewarded with a $1,500 commission for selling the ticket.
The odds of matching four white ball numbers and the red Powerball® number playing Powerball® are 1 in 913,129.
