COLUMBIA, SC (January 15, 2026) – While her husband was filling up the car, a Grand Strand woman was in the passenger seat scratching off a $200,000 lottery win.
When he finished pumping gas, she ordered him to get in the car.
“He said I looked like I was going to pass out,” the wife told lottery officials.
She says she randomly buys lottery tickets but decided to run in the Kahuna Market on Stafford Dr. in Myrtle Beach to get at $5 scratch-off. She picked out a Holly Jolly Jackpot ticket, one of the Lottery’s holiday games. At first, she says she thought she was imagining winning the top prize.
“It was so surreal,” the wife said.
But just days before Christmas, the couple drove home to surprise their family with the good news.
“My kids cried,” she said.
The odds of winning $200,000 in the Holly Jolly Jackpot game are 1 in 760,000. One more top prize remains in the game.
For selling the claimed ticket, Kahuna Market in Myrtle Beach received a commission of $2,000.
