COLUMBIA, SC (August 14, 2012) – The clerk at Scott Food Store on Spratt St. in Fort Mill did his customer a favor when he recommended a $10 lottery ticket.

The suggestion was worth $200,000.

“I flipped out,” the winner said, describing how his hand shook as he signed his name to the back of the winning $200,000 Hot Streak scratch-off.

The winner rushed out the store and headed home to tell his kids their college tuition was taken care of.

“Can you believe it was ticket number 13 and in slot number 13?” spoke the winner shaking his head amazed by what seemed so unlucky was anything but.

The odds of winning $200,000 are 1 in 480,000.

As of this release, two top prizes of $200,000 remain in the $200,000 Hot Streak game.

For selling the claimed ticket, Scott Food Store in Fort Mill received a commission of $2,000.

Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than one million college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students. In all, more than $2.8 BILLION has been transferred to support educational programs in the Palmetto State.
