COLUMBIA, SC (June 27, 2024) – If a Port Royal lottery player had matched just one more number on his Powerball® ticket, he says he would be buying a new house instead of fixing up the one he has.
“It still hasn’t sunk in,” the winner told South Carolina Education Lottery officials after cashing the ticket worth $100,000.
He says he took a chance on a quick pick with PowerPlay® ticket at the Parkers #48 at 1705 Ribaut Rd. in Port Royal, and couldn’t believe what he was seeing when he checked the results for the May 4 drawing. All but one number matched (14, 20, 23, 53, 69 and PB: 4). The odds of that happening are nearly 1 in a million.
“It’s surreal,” he said of how chose he came to winning a $203 million jackpot. “One more number and me, my family and friends, we would all be getting new houses.”
Instead, he’s content to take care a few projects around his own place.
For selling the claimed ticket, Parkers #48 in Port Royal received a commission of $1,000.
