That’s $596 million in cash to whoever can stop this jackpot run that began in early August.
On Monday over 96,000 prizes ranging from $4 to $150,000 were won here in South Carolina. Three players in our state came close, but fell one number short of winning it all. One of these players took home $150,000 on a ticket with PowerPlay® sold at the Stop N Go Express on Wichman St. in Walterboro. The other two won $50,000 off tickets sold in Rock Hill at the Energy Fuel on Indian Hook Rd. and Little Giant #5 on Dave Lyle Blvd. Failing to match just one other white ball number cost each of them a $1 billion jackpot.
South Carolinians interested in buying a ticket for the second largest Powerball® jackpot ever and the fourth largest jackpot in the nation MUST purchase their ticket by 9:59 p.m. on Wednesday for the drawing at 10:59. Tickets are $2 and available at most grocery stores and convenience stores in our state.
Powerball® is easy to play. Opt for a quick pick and the terminal will randomly select six numbers for you, or tell the clerk your lucky numbers. To win the jackpot, you have to match all six numbers drawn, but there are eight other ways to match and win. Win $1 million for matching the first five white ball numbers drawn or win $4 for matching only the Powerball® number. Carefully check your tickets after the drawing to find out if you’re a winner.
The Lottery is urging players to play smart, to play in moderation and to please, play responsibly. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 293 million.
Good luck, South Carolina! # # #
