COLUMBIA, SC (August 2, 2023) – If you’re feeling lucky this Friday, the Mega Millions® jackpot is $1.25 BILLION with a cash payout of $625 million.
This is the game’s fourth largest jackpot. The biggest is a $1.5 billion windfall won in South Carolina back in October of 2018.
If billion-dollar jackpots are starting to feel a bit familiar, that’s because this is the third jackpot run to surge past $1 billion this year. In January Mega Millions® reached $1.34 billion, in July Powerball® swelled to $1.08 billion and now Mega Millions® sits at $1.25 billion.
In Tuesday’s Mega Millions® drawing three players in South Carolina came close to winning it all, matching four of the first five white ball numbers and the gold Megaball® number to win $10,000. The winning tickets were sold at the Food Lion #2687 at 3501 Belle Terre Blvd. in Myrtle Beach, at Gaz-Bah #14 at 951 Chestnut St. in Orangeburg, and at Murphy USA #7273 at 14 Benton Rd. in Travelers Rest.
South Carolinians interested in
taking a chance on the $1.25 billion jackpot must purchase their tickets by 10
p.m. before Friday’s 11 p.m. drawing.
The South Carolina Education Lottery urges players to play smart by playing
responsibly. It only takes one ticket to win. Odds of winning the jackpot are 1
in 303 million.
Good luck, South Carolina!
