COLUMBIA, SC – To say that Francis Stephenson is a lucky man is quite an understatement. The 61-year-old Chester man just claimed a $400,000 Powerball prize. And this isn’t the first time Stephenson collected a large chunk of cash. In 2005, he won $1,000,000 playing Powerball, earning him the title of South Carolina’s first Powerball millionaire.

“I am a lucky man,” the modest Stephenson said when he picked up his winnings at the Columbia Claims Center.

His wife is lucky too! Stephenson said he’s giving this prize to her!

Stephenson purchased his latest winning ticket at Grant’s Grocery in Chester. Two years ago, he bought his $1,000,000 Powerball ticket at the Pantry Express, also in Chester.

The August 4 Powerball drawing was worth an estimated $123,000,000! The white numbers were 2, 23, 24, 27, and 36. The red Powerball was 3 and the PowerPlay was 2.
