COLUMBIA, SC (May 22, 2013) – An Orangeburg couple has a great story to tell their daughter when she’s older. It was her dirty diaper that helped win the family $100,000 in the Lottery.
The family was traveling Interstate 26 over the weekend when they had to exit to change her diaper. They pulled in at the 7-Eleven on Piney Grove Rd. in Columbia and before getting back on the Interstate, the mother ran in to the store to get her husband a ticket to scratch.
“It put a smile on my face,” he said seeing the $100,000 printed on the ticket.
While the young couple declined to release their names or plans for the winnings, they are enjoying the humor in how they won.
A stop to change a dirty diaper may have funded their daughter’s college education.
As of this release, three top prizes of $100,000 remain in the ($5) “7” game. Odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 400,000.
For selling the claimed ticket, 7-Eleven #36831H in Columbia received a commission of $1,000.
To date, lottery play has resulted in more than $3 BILLION transferred to support education.
