COLUMBIA, SC (January 24, 2013) – A Gaffney woman’s richer for being born in January.
The Capricorn spotted a Garnet Red 7’s scratch-off inside the Ashvi Food Mart on Cherokee Ave. yesterday morning and had to have it. Garnet is her birthstone.
“No way,” she said after scratching the $5 ticket.
The $107,777 won is a late birthday present.
“Maybe I’ll buy me a new garnet ring,” the winner laughed.
As of this release, one top prize remains in the $5 Garnet Red 7’s game. Odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 480,000.
For selling the claimed ticket, Ashvi Food Mart in Gaffney received a commission of $1,077.
Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than one million college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students. In all, more than $2.9 BILLION has been transferred to support educational programs in the Palmetto State.
