COLUMBIA, SC (November 18, 2021) – An Upstate Mega Millions® player couldn’t sleep the night he won $50,000.

The ticket, a quick pick, from Gaults Handee Mart & Service Center on S. Main St. in Fountain Inn matched all but one number in the October 8 drawing (21 - 24 - 36 - 40 - 70 and MB: 22) to keep him awake.

The winner, who does not wish to be identified, told South Carolina Education Lottery officials that the first number on his ticket didn’t match, but he kept repeating to himself, “Come on! Come on!” as he checked the rest of the numbers on his ticket.

Now that he’s cashed in the prize, he’s rested and ready to celebrate with a night out.

“I’m buying some concert tickets,” he said.

Gaults Handee Mart & Service Center in Fountain Inn received a commission of $500 for selling the claimed Mega Millions® ticket that overcame odds of 1 in 931,001 to win $50,000.

The estimated jackpot for Friday’s Mega Millions® drawing is $74 million.
