COLUMBIA, SC (June 14, 2024) This week, a Fort Mill woman traveled to Columbia to accept a $1 MILLION prize won in a South Carolina Education Lottery promotion.

Her ticket was selected from the more than 800,000 entries received in the $1,000,000 Riches Second-Chance Promotion to win her family $1 million. She found out she was the big winner when she checked her email.

“I read it two times and screamed at my husband to read it,” the winner told lottery officials. “I was jumping up and down screaming.”

She says she just happened to notice a tiny triangle in the corner of one of her lottery tickets saying it could be entered for another chance to win. She read up on it, joined the Lottery’s Players’ Club and entered that ticket and the ones she bought after that. That decision made her a millionaire.

“I still have to do laundry,” she joked. “I want to be financially responsible with it. My one splurge is I lost my engagement ring, and I’m going to allow myself to replace it.”
