COLUMBIA, SC (October 26, 2022) – On the way to Walmart, a Lowcountry woman’s plans changed when she played the Lottery and won $300,000.
Instead of going shopping, she was going to Columbia to cash in her winning ticket. But first, she went home to get her husband.
“He thought I was lying,” the winner told South Carolina Education Lottery officials. “He had the ticket in his hand and still couldn’t believe it.”
The wife purchased the $10 ticket at the Krishna Indian & American Groceries at 2110 A Green Ridge Rd. in North Charleston. When she scratched off the six-figure win, she admits she wasn’t convinced either.
It didn’t sink in until the couple made the trip to Columbia and left with a check for $207,000 after taxes.
“It was an amazing day,” she said.
The winner overcame odds of 1 in 900,000 to win $300,000 in the Cash Bonanza game. Four more top prizes remain on the ticket.
Krishna Indian & American Groceries in North Charleston received a commission of $3,000 for selling the claimed ticket.
