COLUMBIA, SC (September 28, 2022) – An Upstate man waited all day to find out how much he won playing the South Carolina Education Lottery. And, his patience was rewarded with a $300,000 win.
“I teared up,” he told lottery officials when he realized what his ticket was worth.
He says he bought the $10 lottery ticket that morning at the Pelzer Pointe Shell on the Easley Hwy. in Pelzer, but he didn’t have time to finish scratching off the prize amount until later that night.
“It was a busy day,” he said. “I was just waiting for a chance to sit down and relax.”
Now he needs time to think. “I’m still deciding how to spend it,” he said.
The winner overcame odds of 1 in 1,000,000 to win $300,000 in the Money Mania Extra Play game. Two more top prizes remain on the ticket.
Pelzer Pointe Shell in Pelzer received a commission of $3,000 for selling the claimed ticket.
