Two Big Wins Make Upstate Store a Lucky Spot

COLUMBIA, SC (September 29, 2023) – An Upstate convenience store has gained lucky store status after selling two, big winning lottery tickets.

Paras Point at 2904 Wade Hampton Blvd. in Taylors sold a lottery ticket worth $1 million in late August and then a little over two weeks later sold one worth $300,000. Both winners have cashed in their scratch-offs.

The millionaire says he dusted off his ticket be sure he was seeing it right, and then didn’t sleep a wink that night. “I’m still working every day,” he said. “But it’s a life changer for sure.”

He says he took his $1,000,000 Riches ticket home from the store to scratch, just like the $300,000 winner did with his $300,000 Bonus Scratch card.

“I just sat there,” said the $300,000 winner when he saw his payday. He told South Carolina Education Lottery officials that on Saturdays he’ll occasionally take a chance on a lottery ticket, but never expected to win enough to be debt free with plenty left over for savings.  “It’s exciting,’ he said.

And it’s good for business.

At Paras Point, husband and wife owners Ashok and Shila Patel say more folks are coming in to play the Lottery. The couple has been at the store for seven years, and this is their first big wins.

“I’m feeling good and the customers are happy, very happy,” Ashok said.

Two more top prizes of $1,000,000 remain in the $1,000,000 Riches game at odds of 1 in 1,350,000. One more top prize of $300,000 remains in the $300,000 Bonus Scratch game at odds of 1 in 750,000.

Paras Point received a commission of $10,000 and $3,000 for selling the claimed tickets.
