COLUMBIA, SC (November 6, 2023) – A Lowcountry woman was cashing in a winning Powerball® ticket when she found it was worth ten times more than she thought.
“I started crying,” she said, when South Carolina Education Lottery staff told her it was a $100,000 winner. “Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought something like that would have happened to me.”
The winner says she doesn’t play the Lottery often, but took a chance on a quick pick with PowerPlay® at the Quick Food Mart #2 on Hwy. 17A S. in Summerville for the drawing on September 30 (19, 30, 37, 44, 46 and PB: 22). When she scanned the ticket to see if she won anything, the ticket checker message said to “Claim at Lottery.”
“I thought maybe I won $10,000 at the most, but I didn’t know,” she said. “I’m so very grateful.”
The odds of matching four white ball numbers and the red Powerball® number playing Powerball® are 1 in 913,129.
For selling the claimed ticket, Quick Food Mart #2 in Summerville received a commission of $1,000.
