Columbia, SC( June 28, 2004): At a news conference held today, the South Carolina Education Lottery (SCEL) announced the winning Powerball® ticket was sold at a Spinx store located at 6425 Highway 24 in Townville.
“This is exciting for us because every time we have a winner in South Carolina, it energizes our players,” said Stewart Ellison, SCEL’s Upstate Sales Manager. “Now we are waiting for the winner to come forward.”
The winning numbers from the June 26, 2004 drawing were: 9, 17, 32, 41 and 47. The Powerball® was 8. The PowerPlay multiplier was 5.
The Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL), the group that operates Powerball®, notes there were no other jackpot winners for this drawing. This ticket is valued at $65,800,000.
The winner(s) will now have to decide if they want a 29-year, 30-payment annuity or the cash option worth more than $34 million. The winner has 60 days after their ticket is validated to make that decision.
There were more winners in South Carolina: 26,447 winning tickets were sold with prizes ranging from $3 to $100,000. Included, is one winning ticket worth $100,000 purchased in Bennettsville.
The SCEL offers a 1% Selling Bonus to retailers for any redeemed winning ticket $10,000 and above. Selling Bonuses are capped at $50,000.
The winner will have to claim their prize at the Columbia Claims Center located at 717-C Lady Street in Downtown Columbia.
