Rock Hill Woman Has a License to Shop

COLUMBIA, SC (March 30, 2011) – Gina Ratcliff cashed in a $40,000 Mega Millions® ticket with plans to stimulate the economy.

“I’m going shopping,” she said.

Radcliff told lottery officials she occasionally buys a ticket, but last Friday’s $319 Mega Millions® jackpot got her attention. She came closer than most to winning it.

Off by one number, Radcliff matched four of the five white ball numbers and she matched the Megaball® (22 - 24 - 31 - 52 - 54 MB: 4) drawn on Friday, March 25. Because she purchased Megaplier® for an additional $1, her $10,000 winnings were multiplied by “4” and her winnings totaled $40,000.

Over the weekend, Radcliff locked the ticket inside her car in the garage ready to leave for Columbia to claim the prize. Only problem, she didn’t know exactly how much she won until lottery officials scanned the ticket.

“This is too good to be true,” she said.

For selling the winning ticket Little Giant #4 in Rock Hill received $400. Every retailer that sells a claimed ticket of $10,000 or more earns a 1 percent retailer commission, capped at $50,000.
