Rock Hill Man’s Second “Scratch” Reveals $200,000

COLUMBIA, SC (June 21, 2011) – A Rock Hill man was about to throw away a lottery ticket when he noticed he missed a spot.

When he scratched off the spot he uncovered a “7” to win $200,000.

Or was it a “1?”

He couldn’t tell.

He held the ticket up to the bathroom light to see. It looked like a “7.” He went outside and in the sunlight it still looked like a “7.” He drove to Bob’s Food Mart in Rock Hill, where he purchased the Stacks of Cash ticket, for their opinion. He left satisfied he won $200,000.

He told his mom first.

“I was a little nervous, so I didn’t want to make her nervous,” said the winner. “I had her sit down and make sure her blood pressure was o.k.”

She didn’t believe him. When he pays off his house, maybe winning the Lottery will seem real to them both.

The Rock Hill winner claimed the last $200,000 top prize on the Stacks of Cash game.

The odds of winning $200,000 are 1 in 480,000.

Every retailer that sells a claimed ticket of $10,000 or more earns a 1 percent retailer commission, capped at $50,000. Bob’s Food Mart received $2,000.

Since the start of the Lottery in 2002, more than 920,000 college scholarships and grants have been awarded to South Carolina’s students. In all, more than $2.5 BILLION has been appropriated to support educational programs in the Palmetto State.
