COLUMBIA, SC (July 12, 2013) – The Coward Truck Stop on Hwy. 52 in Coward sold a $100,000 winning lottery ticket to a local woman, whose husband is still shaking his head in disbelief.
He told lottery officials how without even reading the directions on the ticket, his wife scratched the $5 Carolina Riches 11th Edition card and handed it to him for inspection.
“Did I win?” she asked.
She did, and he congratulated her. But he couldn’t help but wonder why she won the $100,000 and not him.
“I play every week and win nothing,” he said awaiting the check for the winnings with his wife.
“She plays once every couple of years,” he said still trying to make sense of the situation.
Admittedly, he’s not upset his wife won, only envious he didn’t overcame the odds of 1 in 480,000 to claim the first top prize in the Carolina Riches 11th Edition game himself.
As of this release, four top prizes of $100,000 remain.
For selling the claimed ticket, Coward Truck Stop received a commission of $1,000.
To date, lottery play has resulted in more than $3.1 BILLION transferred to support education.
