“I haven’t told my wife,” says lottery millionaire

COLUMBIA, SC (February 23, 2015) – Nearly a month after Bi-Lo #5709 on Hwy. 24 in Anderson announced they’d sold a $1 million winning Powerball® ticket, a Townville man has surfaced to collect the prize.

“I haven’t even told my wife,” the winner confessed.

He’s kept his family, friends and coworkers in the dark since learning he won following the drawing on Saturday, January 24.

The winner doesn’t regret keeping the win secret. He regrets not spending the extra $1 for PowerPlay®, which would have doubled his prize to $2 million.

But he did overcome odds of about 1 in 5 million to match the first five numbers drawn on January 24 (16, 19, 20, 29 and 33 PB: 10). Failing to match the red Powerball® number cost him that evening’s $230 million jackpot.

The millionaire’s not too disappointed with the outcome.

“I might retire early,” he speculated. “And, I might tell my wife.”

For selling the claimed ticket, Bi-Lo #5709 in Anderson received a commission of $10,000.
