COLUMBIA, SC (May 17, 2019) – A Richburg man called his wife at work to tell her they won $1 million playing Powerball®.

“She was speechless,” he said.

Now he’s going to have to call her back, because his ticket is really worth $2 million.

“Wow!” he said when he found out from lottery staff that the win was twice as much as he expected. “That’s amazing.”

He’s winning numbers were a combination of his, his wife and their children’s ages. The ticket matched the first five white ball numbers drawn on Saturday, May 11 (6, 8, 9, 37, 40 and PB: 26).

Spending the extra $1 for PowerPlay® increased the $1 million prize to $2 million.

The odds of winning $1 million are 1 in 11,688,054. The odds of a 2X multiplier being selected are 1 in 1.75, when the jackpot is over $150 million.

For selling the claimed ticket, S M Food Mart in Richburg received a commission of $20,000.
