A little over a month ago he won $200,000 playing the South Carolina Education Lottery. The winning Palmetto Cash 5 ticket sat in a drawer until he had a day off from work.
“I’ve been busy working,” he told lottery officials when he finally had the time to cash in the ticket. “Now I’m debt free.”
His ticket matched all five numbers drawn on Thursday, May 9 to win the top prize in the Palmetto Cash 5 game (10, 15, 16, 34, and 37). Because he spent the extra $1 for Power-Up, his would be $100,000 winnings were doubled to $200,000 when a “2” multiplier was selected.
The odds of winning $200,000 playing Palmetto Cash 5 are 1 in 1,003,884.
For selling the claimed ticket, D & M Mart in Williston received a commission of $2,000.
