COLUMBIA, SC (August 21, 2026) – A Lowcountry man admits he wasn’t feeling especially lucky when he bought a lottery ticket. But that didn’t matter. He scratched off a $200,000 top prize win anyway.
“It was my lucky day,” he told South Carolina Education Lottery officials. “I hoped one day it would happen.”
He called the win on a $5 scratch-off a “big surprise,” saying he wasn’t expecting to win it all on a spur of the moment ticket purchase at the Circle K on Mathis Ferry Rd. in Mount Pleasant.
And he couldn’t be happier with the result. “I’m just blessed,” he told lottery officials.
The odds of winning $200,000 in the 50X game are 1 in 990,000. This game is no longer available.
For selling the claimed ticket, Circle K Stores #2708089 in Mount Pleasant received a commission of $2,000.
