9/4/2025 9:33:09 AM

COLUMBIA, SC (September 4, 2023) Powerball® players will get yet another crack at winning a billion dollar jackpot this week. On Saturday, Powerball® draws for a jaw dropping $1.7 BILLION, the third-largest jackpot in U.S. lottery history.

This jackpot is closing in on the world record Powerball® prize of $2 billion won back in November of 2022. Saturday’s drawing will be the 42nd since the Powerball® jackpot was last won on May 31, 2025. The current streak is the game record for the most consecutive drawings without a jackpot winner.

In Wednesday’s drawing, over 118,000 prizes ranging from $4 to $50,000 were won here in South Carolina.  Three players won $50,000.

Two players won $50,000 off tickets sold in Fort Mill at the Publix Super Markets at 928 Gold Hill Rd. and in Goose Creek at the A Plus at 1519 Red Bank Rd. Failing to match just one more white ball number cost them the jackpot. One other player took home $50,000 on a ticket with Double Play® sold at the Circle K Stores at 820 S. Church St. in Greenville.

South Carolinians interested in buying a Powerball® ticket MUST purchase their ticket by 9:59 p.m. on Saturday for the drawing at 10:59. Tickets are $2 and available at most grocery stores and convenience stores in our state.

The Lottery is urging players to play in moderation and to please, play responsibly. Odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in about 293 million.

Good luck, South Carolina!
