COLUMBIA, SC (August 7, 2025) – A Grand Strand grocery shopper brought home some cheddar. Along with the groceries, he put away a scratch-off ticket worth $500,000.

“It’s a fresh start,” the winner told South Carolina Education Lottery officials.

He picked out the $500,000 Jackpot ticket after grabbing his groceries at the Lowes Foods #232 on S. Commons Dr. in Myrtle Beach. He says he bought the $10 ticket with winnings from another lottery ticket he cashed in.

“I was playing with your money,” he joked.

Odds of winning $500,000 in the $500,000 Jackpot game are 1 in 1,152,000.  One top prize remains in the game.

Lowes Foods #232 in Myrtle Beach received a commission of $5,000 for selling the claimed ticket.
