COLUMBIA, SC (April 10, 2025) – A lottery ticket sold in Simpsonville, SC, has won an Upstate player $500,000.
The winner, who does not wish to be identified, told South Carolina Education Lottery officials that she wasn’t feeling especially lucky when she dropped by the Mit Food Mart on W. Georgia Rd. to buy a scratch-off.
But that all changed when she scratched the $10 ticket. She was stunned the half-a-million dollar prize was hers.
“It was the biggest, greatest surprise ever,” she said.
Odds of winning $500,000 in the Grand Stacks game are 1 in 1,440,000. The game is no longer available.
Mit Food Mart in Simpsonville received a commission of $5,000 for
selling the claimed ticket.
