COLUMBIA, SC (May 29, 2025) – An Upstate woman bought a poker-style lottery ticket, scratched it and wasn’t sure if it was a winner.

“I don’t play poker,” she told South Carolina Education Lottery officials.

The solution, she called her husband at work, who explained how to play the card game. Then she waited until he got home to tell him they won $200,000.

“It was unbelievable,” she said. “We had a winning hand.”

She says she purchased the $5 Poker Night scratch-off after cashing in another winning ticket at the KC Mart #7 on Lee Vaughn Rd. in Simpsonville.

The odds of winning $200,000 in the Poker Night game are 1 in 870,000. One more top prize remains in the game.

For selling the claimed ticket, KC Mart #7 in Simpsonville received a commission of $2,000.
