COLUMBIA, SC (November 3, 2021) – An Upstate woman was hoping for at least a $20 win on her Powerball® ticket but was surprised with $150,000 instead.
“It was a lot of fun,” she told South Carolina Education Lottery officials.
She bought the Powerball® ticket, a quick pick, at the Kangaroo Express #3289 on Woodruff Rd. in Simpsonville for the drawing on Wednesday, September 22 (20 - 40 - 47 - 55 - 63 and PB: 5). The second number printed on her ticket was the only one that didn’t match, all the rest did.
“It was surreal and didn’t make any sense,” she said when she checked the results.
As for her plans, she says she’ll put her winnings aside for retirement and keep playing Powerball®.
Kangaroo Express #3289 in Simpsonville received a commission of $1,500 for selling the claimed Powerball® ticket that overcame odds of 1 in 913,129 to win $150,000.
The estimated jackpot for Wednesday’s Powerball® drawing is $132 million.
