Longtime Powerball® Player Wins $100,000

COLUMBIA, SC (May 19, 2022) – A Midlands man, who has been playing Powerball® for years, has won $100,000.

The winner, who does not wish to be identified, picked some of his numbers and quick picked the rest at the Quick Stop #5 on W. Columbia Ave. in Batesburg.

“I knew right away I won,” he told South Carolina Education Lottery officials. Following the drawing, he says he went to his car to get the ticket, checked the numbers and then gave the ticket to his wife to have a look.

She saw his winning ticket matched four of the first five numbers and the red Powerball number drawn on Monday, April 18 (8, 33, 55, 59, 62 and PB 18) at odds of 1 in 913,129.

The couple is excited about their win and plans. They want to have some work done on their house and give to their church.

“And yes, I’m going to continue to play,” the winner said.

For selling the claimed ticket, Quick Stop #5 in Batesburg received a commission of $1,000.

South Carolinians interested in taking a chance on Saturday’s drawing for a $117 million jackpot can purchase a ticket at most convenience stores and grocery stores in our state. Tickets are $2 and the odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 293 million.

Good luck, SC!
