Powerball comes to South Carolina!

Columbia, SC: The South Carolina Education Lottery (SCEL) will begin kicking off its statewide launch of Powerball with the help of several radio stations. As part of the launch, the SCEL will also give away a red Volkswagen Bug as part of the promotion.

The SCEL has partnered with several radio stations across the state as the exclusive radio stations for Powerball. They are: WMYB Star 92.1 of Myrtle Beach, WWDM 101.3 of Columbia, WSSX 95.1 of Charleston, and WFBC 93.7 out of Greenville. The stations will also broadcast as South Carolina officially begins to sell Powerball tickets on October 5, 2002 at 11p.m.

The SCEL will have Powerball Kickoff parties on October 5th at several retailers across the state. The festivities will begin at 10:30p.m. SCEL officials will be at the specified stores to help facilitate the much anticipated crowd. At the retail stores, lottery players will also get the chance to spin the lottery’s prize wheel for additional prizes!

In the Upstate, the SCEL will be at Red Robin, located at 1170 Woodruff Road. in Greenville and at the Circle K at 262 Carowinds Boulevard. in Rock Hill. Players in the Charleston area can join the SCEL at the Piggly Wiggly at 445 Meeting Street. And in Columbia, everyone will be the Smokin' Jo on Elmwood Ave. in Columbia.

In addition to the Powerball Launch festivities, beginning Wednesday, September 25th, the SCEL will conduct a Power Bug promotion. The Power Bug, a red Volkswagen Bug filled with red balls, will travel to several locations around the state. Participants will receive the chance to guess the amount of red balls in the Power Bug. The person with the correct answer drives away in the 2002 Volkswagen Bug.
