Columbia, SC (August 9, 2004): This fall, the South Carolina Education Lottery (SCEL) will end its summer promotion by giving away $1 million. It’s all part of SCEL’s Carolina Millionaire Summer Promotion, introduced to players earlier in May.
“This is the biggest promotion we have done ever,” said Pat Koop, SCEL’s Director of Marketing and Sales. “We’re currently brainstorming ideas to culminate the grand finale to be held at the Fair.”
A preliminary drawing will take place at SCEL’s headquarters on September 20 to select 10 semi-finalists. Then on October 14, the Carolina Millionaire will be selected at the SC State Fair in Columbia. To date, SCEL has received nearly 100,000 entries vying for the million dollars.
“The odds are spectacular,” said Koop. “They are some of the best odds one can offer with a million dollars at stake.”
Players are asked to, collect any $20 combination of non-winning Carolina Millionaire qualifying instant tickets, fill out the back of at least one ticket, and mail them in an envelope to the designated post office box listed on the back of each ticket.
The qualifying instant tickets are: Carolina Payout ($10), Cash Explosion 2nd Edition ($5), Big Bang Boom ($2), and Beach Music Cash ($1). All of the tickets are marked with “CM” in the upper left corner and “Carolina Millionaire Promotion” across the top.
Qualifying tickets are still available in more than 3,500 lottery retailers statewide. Players can mail-in their entries for the second-chance drawing up to September 22.
