Nationally known professional eater, Eric “Badlands” Booker, takes on competitors from Harley Owner Groups® (H.O.G.) statewide in SCEL event
Columbia, S.C. (June 10, 2005): S.C. Education Lottery (SCEL) is going H.O.G. wild this month to kick off its newest $5 game, Ultimate Harley-Davidson®.
Harley-Davidson® enthusiasts from around the state will gather at the Harley Haven motorcycle shop in Cayce on June 25 for music, fun and the ultimate eating contest.
Representatives from five Harley Owners Group® (H.O.G.) chapters will risk the ultimate case of indigestion in a rib eating showdown with International Federation of Competitive Eating (IFOCE) champion Eric “Badlands” Booker, at left. The 400-plus pound Booker, who once ate 49 glazed doughnuts in eight minutes, will take on challengers from H.O.G. chapters in Columbia, Greenville, the Lowcountry, Myrtle Beach and Rock Hill.
All the fun is sure to raise excitement about SCEL’s newest ticket, Ultimate Harley-Davidson®. The game is SCEL’s fifth licensed property instant ticket and offers players the chance to win the ultimate prize for any Harley-Davidson® fan.
Players will have the chance to win up to $100,000 or one of 12 Harley-Davidson® Fat Boy® motorcycles. In addition, SCEL will have two second-chance drawings. Players can send in non-winning tickets for a chance to win one of two prize packages featuring a 2005 F-250 Harley-Davidson® edition Ford pickup and a Fat Boy® motorcycle! Each second-chance prize is valued at more than $100,000.
The IFOCE, the governing body of all stomach-centric sports, conducts more than 70 events annually, including the Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest in Coney Island, N.Y. The competitive eating community, which numbers more than 3,000 veteran and rookie athletes, travels the nation in search of top titles and the glory that they provide.
In fiscal year 2005 to date, the S.C. Education Lottery (SCEL) has transferred $234 million to the state’s Education Lottery Account and is on track to achieve the Board of Economic Advisors’ goal of transferring $255 million. Since January 2002, SCEL has transferred more than $822 million to the account to be appropriated by the Legislature to support educational programs in South Carolina.
