$1 Player Scratches First $10 Ticket to Win $200,000

COLUMBIA, SC (February 11, 2013) – A Batesburg woman opened her pocketbook and instead of taking out a $1 to play the Lottery, she bought her first $10 scratch-off.

The decision won her $200,000.

Stunned, she waited two weeks for the excitement to wear off before cashing in the winning ticket.

“I had to give myself time to get over it,” she explained. “I didn’t want to have a heart attack.”

Awaiting the check, she joked she’s a big spender and sticks to the $1 scratch-offs. For one time only, she took a chance on the $10 Platinum Payout 25X ticket from at the Quick Stop on Church St. in Batesburg.

“I feel great,” she said slipping the check into her purse. “Maybe I’ll get a new car.”

The Batesburg woman claimed the last top prize of $200,000 in the $10 Platinum Payout 25X game. Odds of winning the top prize were 1 in 500,000.

For selling the claimed ticket, Quick Stop in Batesburg received a commission of $2,000.

To date, lottery play has resulted in more than $2.9 billion transferred to support education.
