COLUMBIA, SC (April 22, 2014) – A local couple has claimed the $400,000 Palmetto Cash 5 ticket sold in Columbia for Friday’s evening drawing.
Their plans are to “pay off everything and then relax,” they said.
The house, car and the kids’ student loan payments all erased by five numbers – 7, 14, 19, 20 and 26 – the husband has played for close to 10 years.
“I’m playing tonight too, the same numbers,” the husband said.
Any fun plans for his winnings?
“Paying the bills will be fun,” said the wife. “We’ll save the rest.”
Spending the extra dollar for Power-Up increased his would be $100,000 prize to $400,000 when a “4” multiplier was drawn.
Odds of winning $400,000 playing Palmetto Cash 5 are 1 in 4,015,536.
For selling the claimed ticket, Li’l Cricket 3879 in Columbia received a commission of $4,000.
To date, lottery play has resulted in more than $3.3 billion transferred to support education.
