COLUMBIA, SC (August 2, 2024) – A Lancaster lottery player says he knew he was going to win the Lottery one day. But he was surprised when he did.

“It was unbelievable,” he said of winning $200,000 on a $5 scratch-off.  He says he stopped in The Forks store on Memorial Park Rd. in Lancaster for an orange juice and spontaneously decided to take a chance on a ticket.

He took the ticket home, where he scratched it and couldn’t stop staring at the result. The winner told lottery officials he kept the ticket close, in his back pocket, until he could cash it in.

“This is life changing,” he said, sharing plans to invest most of the win in his business. “It’s crazy.”

The odds of winning $200,000 in the Max Money game are 1 in 660,000. Three more top prizes remain in the game.

For selling the claimed ticket, The Forks in Lancaster received a commission of $2,000.
