COLUMBIA, SC (February 17, 2021) – A Midlands lottery player celebrated winning $250,000 by taking a day off.
“It felt great,” the winner said.
He purchased the Carolina Black Diamond ticket for $10 at the Quick Shop on E. Columbia Ave. in Leesville.
The South Carolina Education Lottery caught up with the winner after cashing in his ticket, and there's more to celebrate.
"I've paid off my house," he said.
The Midlands man overcame odds of 1 in 585,000 to win $250,000 in the $10 Carolina Black Diamond game. No more top prizes remain in the game.
Quick Shop in Leesville received a commission of $2,500 for selling the claimed ticket.
