COLUMBIA, SC (March 17, 2021) – When he got off work, a Grand Strand man played the Lottery and got paid $125,000.

“I almost passed out,” the winner told South Carolina Education Lottery officials.

He says he stopped after work to fill up his car at the Palmetto Express at 2599 N. Main St. in Conway and decided to take a chance on a lottery ticket. The $5 Lots of Cash scratch-off left him breathless.

“I play every once in a while,” he said. “I couldn’t believe it when I won.”

The Lottery caught up with the winner, who asked not to be identified, at work several days after cashing in the winning ticket. He says he hasn’t finalized plans for the winnings yet but saving for retirement is at the top of his list.

One top prize of $125,000 remains in the Lots of Cash game at odds of 1 in 660,000.

Palmetto Express in Conway received a commission of $1,250 for selling the claimed ticket.
