COLUMBIA, SC (June 17, 2021) – An Upstate lottery player scratched off a $250,000 win at a Roebuck convenience store.
“It was wonderful,” said the winner.
She dropped by the OM Food Mart on S. Church St. Ext. in Roebuck, where she says the staff is always so nice, and picked out a $5 Giant Jumbo Bucks ticket. She stayed to scratch the ticket in case she won, and as luck would have it, her prize was too big for the store clerk to cash.
She told South Carolina Education Lottery officials a few days after claiming her quarter-of-a-million dollar prize that she’s paying off her house.
Nita Patel, the owner of the OM Food Mart, couldn’t be happier to hear one of her regular customers won a six-figure payday. It’s the second time in six years the store has sold a top prize winning ticket, and this one means a $2,500 commission for the store.
“Our customers are our top priority,” said Patel. “We want them to have a wonderful day.”
The winner overcame odds of 1 in 960,000 to win $250,000 in the Giant Jumbo Bucks game. Four top prizes remain in the game.
