COLUMBIA, SC (August 1, 2024) – An Upstate man was feeling lucky, so he played the Lottery.
As luck would have it, he won $200,000.
“That was exciting,” the winner told South Carolina Education Lottery officials, who caught up with him after he cashed in the big win.
He says he picked the $5 ticket at random from the Hot Spot convenience store on the J C Calhoun Memorial Hwy. in Easley.
“Now I’m just working and saving my money,” he said.
The odds of winning $200,000 in the $200,000 Gold Rush game are 1 in 660,000. Two more top prizes remain in the game.
For selling the claimed ticket, Hot Spot #4002 in Easley received a commission of $2,000.
