COLUMBIA, SC (June 14, 2017) – Monday night a Little River man checked his Powerball® ticket and won $100,000. Tuesday morning he realized he had a second ticket and won another $100,000.
He bought both tickets at the Food Lion #2112 on Hwy. 9 in Longs for last Saturday’s $447 million Powerball® jackpot drawing. He missed winning the jackpot by one number, but is thrilled with his two wins totaling $200,000 off a combination of numbers he says he’s played for years.
His wife didn’t believe him when he told her about the first $100,000 prize.
“You’re lying,” she said.
“No, I’ve got five of these six numbers,” he promised showing her his Powerball® ticket.
He waited until they were in the car on the way to the Lottery’s Claims Center in Columbia to tell her about the second win.
“Wouldn’t it be great if we know the other people that won,” she said.
“You’re looking at that winner,” he said laughing. “The other ticket’s on the dash.”
The couple doesn’t have any big plans for their $200,000 prizemoney, not yet anyway.
“I’ve always wanted a little boat,” said the wife.
The winning Powerball® numbers for June 10 were 20, 26, 32, 38, 58 and Powerball®: 3.
The odds of matching four white ball numbers and the red Powerball® number are 1 in 913,129. The odds of a 2X multiplier being selected are 1 in 1.75 when the jackpot is $150 million or more.
For selling the claimed tickets, Food Lion #2112 in Longs received a commission of $2,000.
