COLUMBIA, SC (June 3, 2021) – The sight of a $30,000 winning lottery ticket took a Batesburg player’s breath away.
“I was gasping for air,” the winner told South Carolina Education Lottery officials describing the moment she won.
She was at work when she scratched the ticket she bought for $2 at the Quick Stop #5 at 200 W. Columbia Ave. in Batesburg. At first glance she thought she won $30, but a closer look revealed three more zeroes.
“I can get a new car,” she said. “I can help those who have helped me along the way too.”
Quick Stop #5 in Batesburg received a commission of $300 for selling the claimed ticket.
The winner overcame odds of 1 in 432,000 to win the last top prize of $30,000 in the ($2) Green Backs game.
