COLUMBIA, SC (January 25, 2024) – A soon-to-be-married Lowcountry couple has split a $300,000 lottery win.
The future groom won the top prize on a $10 scratch-off that his fiancée gave him.
“She cried when I showed her the ticket,” he told South Carolina Education Lottery officials.
She picked out the big winner at the Publix Super Market #1145 on the Savannah Hwy. in Johns Island, where the couple says they regularly shop for groceries.
The couple is using some of the winnings to help pay for their wedding.
The win leaves one top prize of $300,000 in Southern Spectacular game at odds of 1 in 840,000.
Publix Super Market #1145 in Johns Island received a commission of $3,000 for selling the claimed ticket.
