Columbia, SC: The South Carolina Education Lottery (SCEL) will launch its newest numbers game on Monday, June 17, 2002. It’s called Carolina 5.
Carolina 5 is the second numbers game offered by the SCEL. The uniqueness of this game is that it offers a top prize of $100,000 taxes paid. “If the player wins, the lottery will write them a check for $100,000 dollars,” says SCEL Director of Marketing and Sales, Pat Koop. “No other lottery has offered their players this kind of pay out.”
Unlike Pick 3, players can choose five unique numbers ranging from 1 to 36. If their numbers are drawn, they are a winner regardless of the combination.
There will be one drawing a week, held on Fridays at 11 pm on WLTX in Columbia, WCBD in Charleston, WPDE/WMMB in Florence- Myrtle Beach and WSPA in Spartanburg/Greenville.
The SCEL will partner with 6 radio stations in South Carolina for launch day festivities. There will be live radio remotes to promote the game with lots of give-a-ways, prizes and Carolina 5 paraphernalia.
