A Wagner woman wins $1 million! Are you next?
COLUMBIA, SC: (January 4, 2007): With a $10 purchase of a Carolina Millionaires Club instant ticket, it only took a couple of scratches for Brandi Peele, 22, of Wagner to realize she had won a million dollars and was a member of the club.
“I don’t think it has hit me yet,” said Peele. “I scratched the ticket in the car. My mother thought I was joking.”
That’s until Peele’s face began to turn colors. “My mom realized I was telling the truth then,” said Peele.
Peele had to wait a couple of days to cash her winning ticket, because lottery offices were closed for the holidays.
“I held on tight to my ticket and never let it out of my sight,” said Peele, who plans to invest her million dollars and maybe take a vacation.
Peele is the first in a string of people to win a million dollars to be recognized in January. The South Carolina Education Lottery is four days away from awarding four $1 million prizes in the Carolina Millionaire Raffle. The drawing will be held on Monday, January 8, 2007, during halftime of the BCS National Championship football game. Local FOX affiliates will televise the drawing of the four $1 million top prizes. The other 762 winning raffle numbers will be available on our website, www.sceducationlottery.com, or at lottery retailers statewide. A total of $5.5 million in cash prizes will be given away.
Lottery officials are urging raffle players to hold tight to their tickets. For those who haven’t purchased a raffle ticket, get them today before their gone tomorrow. Raffle ticket sales end when the last ticket is sold or at midnight on Sunday, January 7, 2007. More information on the Carolina Millionaire Raffle is available at www.sceducationlottery.com.
