COLUMBIA, SC (September 8, 2009) – The small town of Smoaks in Colleton County is getting some attention this week after an area retailer sold the $800,000 jackpot-winning MegaMatch 6 ticket.
P&D Grocery Inc of Smoaks, located at 27499 Lowcountry Highway in Smoaks, is the lucky retailer. The winning numbers in the September 4 drawing were 13, 16, 17, 31, 32 and 35.
The winning ticket was presented for payment at the Lottery’s Mount Pleasant Claims Center. The player claiming the prize is a resident of Colleton County.
A retailer who sells a claimed ticket of $10,000 or more receives a 1 percent selling bonus. P&D Grocery Inc of Smoaks received $8,000.
A MegaMatch 6 ticket costs $5 and has three rows of six numbers in each row. Players win by matching four to six numbers in a single row or by matching five or more numbers contained in all three rows for a combination win. Players can win up to four times on a ticket. Drawings are held Tuesday and Friday evenings at 6:59. The MegaMatch 6 jackpot starts at $550,000 and grows at a minimum of $25,000 each drawing until won. Players have 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim their prizes.
Since the Lottery’s inception in 2002, the General Assembly has appropriated more than $2.2 billion for educational purposes through fiscal year 2010. Approximately 97 cents of every dollar spent by players on the South Carolina Education Lottery is returned to the state in the form of contributions to education, prizes, retailer commissions, and payment to contractors for goods and services.
