Lake City Man Exhausted After $200,000 Lottery Win

3/1/2011 8:31:02 AM

COLUMBIA, SC (March 1, 2011) – A Lake City man won $200,000 and wanted a nap.

The lottery winner did not want to release his name but told officials he had stayed up late. While he was driving home late from visiting a friend in Florence, he stopped and purchased the Black ticket. Already tired, winning $200,000 spoiled any hopes he had of sleeping.

“At first, I had to realize I wasn’t dreaming,” he said.

Then he called his boss to say he wouldn’t be coming into work.

“I’m going to be careful and make the money last,” he said. “I’m going straight to the bank and then to sleep.”

Interstate Convenience in Florence sold the winning ticket and received $2,000, a 1 percent retailer commission when the ticket was claimed.

Odds of winning the top prize on the $10 Black ticket are 1 in 497,142.86.
