COLUMBIA, SC (January 12, 2024) – A Lowcountry man picked five lottery numbers that proved lucky in a recent Palmetto Cash 5 drawing, winning him $300,000.
“I use a highly secret formula,” he joked with South Carolina Education Lottery officials. He actually selecting the numbers at random. “It was a surprise,” he admitted.
He bought the ticket with Power-Up at the Circle K at 42 Center St. in Folly Beach, which he says isn’t where he usually plays. The numbers 19, 20, 25, 28 and 31 on the Palmetto Cash 5 ticket he bought there matched those drawn on December 23.
Since the prize wasn’t enough to retire on, he says he’s saving it. “And, I’ll continue to try my luck,” he said.
For selling the claimed ticket, Circle K #2720839 in Folly Beach received a commission of $3,000.
The odds of winning $300,000 playing Palmetto Cash 5 are 1 in 1,405,438.
