COLUMBIA, SC (December 2, 2014) – A Columbia woman figured a call saying she won the Lottery was a scam.
Only it wasn’t. She won $20,000.
When a letter arrived congratulating her on the win, she played it safe and stopped by the Lottery’s Columbia Claims Center to investigate.
“I decided the worst you could do was laugh at me,” she said.
But she was the one smiling. A non-winning scratch-off she entered online in the Lottery’s Instant Replay Second-Chance Promotion won her the cash.
Four other players won cash prizes and an additional 420 players won points redeemable for merchandise in the November 19 drawing. The Lottery’s next Instant Replay monthly drawing is planned for December 17. A $100,000 cash drawing is planned for September 2015.
The odds of winning a prize in the Instant Replay promotion depends on the number of entries received for each drawing.
