MEGAMATCH 6 WINNER CLAIMS JACKPOT WORTH $871,715!

COLUMBIA, SC (March 12, 2008) – The winner of the South Carolina Education Lottery’s (SCEL) first MegaMatch 6 jackpot has come forward to clam the $871,715 prize! The winning ticket was purchased at the Briar Patch in Campobello in Spartanburg County.
The lucky player, who wishes to remain anonymous, is from the upstate and says she’s played MegaMatch 6 since the game started last month. “I love MegaMatch 6,” she said. “I quick picked my numbers when I bought the ticket,” she added. The winning numbers in the Tuesday, March 11 drawing were 3, 4, 7, 8, 10, and 11.
“This is a very exciting time for us and for our first MegaMatch 6 jackpot winner,” said Ernie Passailaigue, SCEL Executive Director. “When we launched MegaMatch 6, we promoted this game with more ways to match, more ways to win. And it’s done just that,” he added. “MegaMatch 6 is a very popular game!”
Since the introduction of MegaMatch 6 on February 4, players have won more than one hundred thousand prizes and in excess of $2.1 million ranging from $7 to $5,000, and now the jackpot. This translates into more than six hundred eighty thousand tickets sold. The overall odds of winning a MegaMatch 6 prize are 1 in 7.2. MegaMatch 6 drawings are held Tuesday and Friday evenings at 6:59.
Since its inception in 2002, the South Carolina Education Lottery has launched more than 260 instant games and six online games. Currently, SCEL offers 39 instant games and five online games. SCEL produces an average of four new games each month in a variety of themes, play styles, and price points of $1-$10. During the past six years, the support the South Carolina Education Lottery has received from players and retailers is responsible for the General Assembly appropriating more than $1.74 billion for educational purposes through fiscal year 2008.
