COLUMBIA, SC (May 21, 2009) – Hearing himself called one “lucky joker,” a Morven, NC, man is all smiles after winning $200,000 instantly!
Henry Pratt bought a $10 Money Money Money instant ticket at Town & Country Phillips in Chesterfield and scratched the ticket in the store.
“When I saw I won, I told the clerk who sold me the ticket and then looked forward to sharing the news with my family,” Pratt said. He waited a week to cash in his ticket. “I had to keep working, but now I might take a couple of days off,” he laughed.
The winner says he’ll put his prize to good use, sharing, saving and spending some.
The retailer who sells a claimed ticket worth more than $10,000 will receive a selling bonus. Town & Country received a $2,000 selling bonus.
Since the Lottery’s inception in 2002, the General Assembly has appropriated more than $2 billion for educational purposes through fiscal year 2009. In the fiscal year ending June 30, 2008, more than 97 cents of every dollar spent by players on the South Carolina Education Lottery was returned to the state in the form of contributions to education, prizes, retailer commissions and payment to contractors for goods and services.
