Trio of Lottery Wins Sweep Columbia

COLUMBIA, SC (August 18, 2015) – Capital City lottery players scored three big wins last week.

And here are their stories.

When he passed a lady stranded on the side of the road, our lottery winner took the next exit to help. When he got to her someone had already stopped. So our Good Samaritan flipped around at the Pantry Plus on Fairfield Rd. and bought a $200,000 Taxes Paid ticket and won just that, $200,000 with the Lottery paying the taxes.

“I always try to do right by people,” the winner said explaining his good luck in winning the game’s last top prize at odds of 1 in 696,000.

Our next winners were a couple out grocery shopping at the Publix Super Markets #656 at Harbison. They came home with dinner and a $100,000 winning ticket. The husband and wife put the groceries away and scratched a $5 Double Sided Dollar$ ticket at the kitchen table to win the second of five top prizes in the game.

“We were overwhelmed,” said the couple who overcame odds of 1 in 480,000.

It was after church when a Columbia woman checked her Palmetto Cash 5 ticket to find out she beat odds of 1 in 1.6 million to win $300,000 in the Sunday, August 9 drawing (4, 14, 16, 25, and 27). She purchased the ticket at SAV A Ton Truck Stop on Wilson Blvd. and Powered-Up for an extra $1 to see her winnings tripled to $300,000. Our final winner gave herself quite a scare when she accidently dropped the winning ticket in the toilet. Quick reflexes saved her quick pick.

“It like to have gotten away from me,” the winner joked.

All three retailers that sold the claimed winning tickets received a one percent commission from the Lottery.
