COLUMBIA, SC (September 2, 2020) – A Columbia lottery player thought about retiring her lucky numbers. Boy is she glad she didn’t. Today those numbers are financing her retirement.
A combination of family birth dates she played in the Palmetto Cash 5 game won her $200,000.
The winner told South Carolina Education Lottery officials that she was getting ready to start her work day when she remembered the ticket she’d purchased at the Gaz-Bah #007 on Clemson Rd. in Columbia. She checked her ticket and all five numbers matched those drawn on Thursday, August 27 (3, 8, 10, 17, and 27).
“I started screaming,” she said.
Because she “Powered-Up” for an additional $1, the $100,000 top prize was multiplied to $200,000.
The odds of winning $200,000 playing Palmetto Cash 5 are 1 in 878,399.
Gaz-Bah #007 in Columbia received a commission of $2,000 for selling the claimed ticket.
