COLUMBIA, SC (July 1, 2025) – Starting today, lottery players in South Carolina will be able to purchase tickets with a debit card.
Participating retailers can now accept debit cards and contactless debit cards, in addition to cash, as payment for scratch-off and draw game tickets. Credit card use is prohibited.
A provision included in the South Carolina state budget will allow lottery retailers to accept debit cards as a form of payment for all lottery purchases. The decision to take the new payment option is up to each store.
Most grocery stores and convenience stores in South Carolina sell lottery products. Lottery tickets are sold at face value with no additional fees charged to players.
