Only one million tickets will be sold!

COLUMBIA, SC: The South Carolina Education Lottery (SCEL) is putting a new twist on an old game – the raffle. The new limited-edition Carolina Millionaire Raffle will create four new millionaires in January 2007.

Carolina Millionaire Raffle tickets go on sale Monday, October 30, 2006, at more than 3,500 SCEL retailers statewide. Each of the game’s $10 tickets will offer a 1 in 250,000 chance of winning $1 million. These are some of the best set of odds offered by SCEL for winning a $1 million prize. Only one million tickets will be sold.

“This game has already created chatter with the retailers,” said Pat Koop, SCEL’s Director of Marketing and Sales. “When the tickets are gone, they’re gone. No additional tickets will be sold.”

The winning ticket numbers for the Carolina Millionaire Raffle will be announced on January 8, 2007. Because the raffle tickets are being sold well in advance of the drawing, Koop urges players to sign their tickets and keep them in a safe place until the drawing.

In addition to the four $1 million prizes, the Carolina Millionaire Raffle will offer 762 additional cash prizes. Two lucky Carolina Millionaire Raffle tickets will be worth $100,000 each. Sixty SCEL raffle players will win $10,000 each and 700 raffle players will win $1,000. A total of $5.5 million will be given away in the Carolina Million Raffle.

The raffle number printed on the ticket must exactly match the raffle number randomly selected in the drawing to be considered for a Carolina Millionaire Raffle prize.

Following the broadcast announcement of the winning ticket numbers, a complete list of winning raffle numbers will be available at lottery retailers and on the website at www.sceducationlottery.com.

Odds of winning a $1 million top prize are 1 in 250,000; odds of winning a $100,000 prize are 1 in 500,000; odds of winning a $10,000 prize are 1 in 16,666 and odds of winning a $1,000 prize are 1 in 1,428.
